Things to Do on San Juan Island in March:
Return of the Whales
While some whales grace us with their presence year-round, the majestic gray whales and magnificent humpbacks return between March and May with their calves in tow.
Daffodil Extravaganza at the Sculpture Park
Find awe-inspiring sculptures, interactive art, coastal wildlife, and more than 8,000 daffodils emerging at the 20-acre San Juan Islands Sculpture Park in Westcott Bay.
Wildflower Hike on the Prairie
American Camp National Historical Park’s vast prairie, set along dramatic cliffs and secluded driftwood beaches, offers a hike through history and stunning vistas. In March, wildflowers begin carpeting the prairie as far as the eye can see.
Birding on the Mountain
Wooded and hilly English Camp National Historical Park features a formal English garden to explore, along with historic barracks and a cemetery under Garry oaks. Keep your eyes out for great blue herons, bald eagles, osprey, hawks, and owls as you climb Mt. Young with views of the surrounding islands.
